Grated Beetroot Poriyal - The Perfect Vegetable Side Dish Everyone Loves

Exploring Sweet & Spicy Beetroot Stir-Fry | South Indian Grated Beetroot Poriyal with dried red chilli


A simple yet flavorful South Indian stir-fry made with freshly grated beetroot, tempered in traditional Andhra style. This vibrant poriyal balances the natural sweetness of beetroot with dried red chillies, curry leaves, and the nutty richness of coconut—making optional it a perfect accompaniment to hot steamed rice and sambar or rasam

✨ABOUT THE RECIPE:

▼INGREDIENTS:

2.5 tbsp of oil

mustard seeds 1/4 tsp

cumin seeds - 1/4 tsp

Bengal Gram Dal - 1/2 tsp

grated beetroot - 680 g

salt 1/2 tsp

curry leaves

coconut grated optional


▼PROCEDURE:

Pour 2.5 tbsp of oil and heat on medium flame

Add mustard seeds 1/4 tsp and cumin seeds - 1/4 tsp let them splutter add dried red chilli - 6 keep flame low

Bengal Gram Dal - 1/2 tsp

add grated beetroot - 680 g totally bought for 1 kg

add salt 1/2 tsp and mix well

add some curry leaves rinsed, No water needed—beetroot releases moisture

use fresh beetroot for great taste cook for 25 min on simmer cover with lid

Once soft but not mushy, you can add grated coconut that is completely optional here I am not added

turn off flame and serve for steamed rice
