Exploring Roasted Gram dal Thattai /chikkalu recipe with idly parboil rice
Idli Parboiled rice which is necessary than raw rice for making thattai a Diwali snack recipe
All idli rice are parboiled rice, but all parboiled rice need not be idli rice hence make sure of it
✨ABOUT THE RECIPE:
▼INGREDIENTS:
Raw rice - 4 glass (the glass capacity is 150g)
Idli Parboiled rice - 4 glass
40 dried red chilli
30 garlic cloves
salt - 1.5 tsp
roasted gram dal - 220 g
one litre oil
▼PROCEDURE:
Raw rice - 4 glass
Idli Parboiled rice 4 glass which is necessary than raw rice
All idli rice are parboiled rice, but all parboiled rice need not be idli rice hence make sure of it
Idli Parboiled rice is good for making thattai
rinse the rice and immerse in water
parboiled rice also called Puzhungal rice
soak in water for 6 hours
then i blended the paste through shop adding 1 glass of water
blend nicely like idly batter
look at the consistency
see the flow take required amount of it leave 600 ml for another purpose
add 40 dried red chilli and garlic 30 cloves
now add the bledning masala into it
roasted chana dal - 220 g grind well
usually people will use only raw rice but my mom will put both raw rice and idly parboiled rice
add salt required amount 1 tsp
mix well the dough until it absorbs nicelythe mixture
during my childhood my mom use to make idly batter with raw rice and parboiled rice in that we take some amount of batter and make thattai recipe
now pour 1 litre oil and heat in high flame
adding salt again since it has low
add chopped curry leaves
now pour the hot oil into it and knead the dough well
since we making thattai with roasted gram dal it absorbs more oil so one scoop of oil is necessary
you can also make the recipe substituting groundnut instead roasted gram dal will reveal that later
press and make flat disc shape and drop in oil keep flame simmer while dropping
once it comes top of the oil drop another dough one by one
it took 5 min for frying medium flame since the size is larger
now I am going to make smaller size
one the dough starts floating at top of oil drop another repeat the same
flip and fry in medium flame for 9 min
after cool down store it in steel container for later use which longs for a week
